Andrew DiDomenico Memorial Scholarship
A college degree is not always necessary for success. While some careers require a degree, many people find success without one. Andrew graduated from the carpentry shop at H.C. Wilcox Technical School in June 2017. Andrew found both personal and financial success thru his employment with the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation. In order to obtain his position with the DOT, Andrew needed to obtain his Commercial Driving License (CDL). Obtaining your CDL license involves enrolling in a commercial driving school and passing an exam. Andrew loved his job, however, tragically he was killed while working for the DOT due to an impaired driver ignoring a work zone.
Andrew DiDomenico was an average student, achieving average grades, yet he had a great deal of determination and was a very hard worker. He was motivated and goal driven in his adult life.
In keeping Andrew’s legacy alive, the Andrew DiDomenico Memorial Foundation is offering scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to graduating seniors at Meriden high schools who embody many characteristics like Andrew who is wishing to pursue a career path in the trades, or in obtaining a Commercial Driving License. Tradespeople are important and we recognize there are costs involved in pursuing trades – just purchasing tools alone can be costly.
